SAWACO is a sea-water desalination plant strategically located in North Obhur, about 45 km away from Jeddah's downtown. The plant covers an area of 14,400m2 and is composed of a water desalination plant production hall that accommodates offices, laboratory, control room, chemical room, workshop and MCC & an electrical room. Adjacent to the production hall lies the power generation house, reject and raw water tanks, 10,000m3 post tensioned reinforced concrete product water tanks, water filling stations, dispatch office and the guard house. SAWACO water desalination plant in North Obhur has been in operation since December 2001, serving over 6,000 customers on a 24/7 scheduled basis.
Both microfiltration system and reverse osmosis membranes.
PLC system with SCADA.
The capacity of the plant now amounts to 15,350m3/day supply of potable water for both domestic and industrial applications.
The desalination system consists of raw seawater intake from 13 beach wells, microfiltration (MF) system adopted for RO pre-treatment, SWRO system composed of 6 operating units that contain several different pressure vessels depending upon the capacity per train. Each pressure vessel contains 6 elements.
Phase-I: Skid A & B (each train consists of 42 pressure vessels).
Phase-2: Skid C & D (each train consists of25 pressure vessels).
Phase-3: Skid E (consists of25 pressure vessels).
Phase-4: Skid F (consist of36 pressure vessels).
Phase-5: Skid G.
